USA vs Thailand 13-0

The US women's team were unable to stop Thailand's aggressive attack. However, the 13-0 loss to Thailand was indicative of a bigger problem: Women's football isn’t supported as well as men's. While the US team has a well-funded program, Thailand doesn't. The federations would rather focus resources on their male counterparts, than support women’s football.

United States wins the first match of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup

Pay gap in US soccer between women and men

With a stunning 2-0 win over the Netherlands on Sunday, the U.S. Women's Soccer Team stunned all of the world. The women have won four World Cups. Men have yet to win one. Aside from winning four titles, the women have not earned as much money as the men. This is just one reason the U.S. Soccer Federation did not pay the women the same amount it paid men.

The pay disparity between men and women in the US soccer team has long been a source of controversy, but the United States's recent performance has been the biggest example. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand recently praised the team's victory over Thailand of 13-0. The US women have scored more than the Thai team in one World Cup match, a record set by any country.
