Assam sprinter Hima Das holds the Indian national record for the 400m with a time of 50.7 seconds. Her father was a farmer, and she showed her natural talent for running at an early age. After a successful run career, Usha attended Providence College Calicut and Mercy College Palghat. O. M. Nambiar her athletics coach encouraged her at Providence College. He gave her the opportunity for participation in sports events.

Former World No. Priyanka Goswami was a former World No.1 woman's tennis athlete. She is an avid runner who also loves to watch athletics. Before that, she was an avid gymnast and ran the 800m, 1500m. But, she decided to switch to running after speaking with a coach. She competed in road races after that and is currently the Indian record holder in both the 10,000m- and 20km racewalk events.


Goswami first got involved in athletics when she was a small child. She was fascinated by the winning medalists' bags which inspired her to choose a career in sport. She received her first international gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

Deepika Kumari, a former World number-one women's archer, is now a member the Indian archery team. She is a top athlete in India and has represented India at the Olympics 3 times. She is a dominant force within Indian archery and has won many awards.

Kumari has competed in international competitions from the age of 15. She was already ranked #1 in the world when she was fifteen and had already won two Commonwealth Games Gold Medals. Then in 2016, she tied the world record for women's recurve and tied the World No. The number one women's archery team. She was a household name within Indian archery because of the success she achieved. She was honored with the Arjuna Award and Padma Shri awards by the Government of India.
