Running is often dominated by men, but there are a few women who have made an impact on the sport. Rita Jeptoo was one of these women, winning the Boston and Chicago marathons back to back in 2013 and 2014. Her use of EPO later led to her being banned from competing for a period of four years. Chebet was later succeeded by Agnes Jebet Tirop (a teenager) in the 2015 IAAF World Cross.

Keira D'Amato

Famous female runner Keira D'Amato has an unlikely story. Keira D'Amato, an elite athlete, has a hectic life. She also works in Real Estate as well as running. Keira broke Deena's marathon record by 24 seconds in the US last year. Keira, only 37, is already a well-respected athlete. But she started as a hobby runner. Keira D'Amato graduated from American University and went on to become a Realtor. She also had two children, and participated in the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials.

Paula Jane Radcliffe

Paula Jane Radcliff, a famous female runner, has won international recognition in long-distance running events. She is the champion of both the New York Marathon in London and the Chicago Marathon in New York. She has also won many other events.

Helene de Pourtales

Helene de Pourtales, the famous female runner of the 1900 Olympics, was born in New York. She was born to a rich tobacco family. Her father, Isaac Barbey, founded the tobacco empire, and her mother was a Lolliard from France. Helene was a natural at running and soon married Hermann Alexandre de Pourtales (a Huguenot ancestor). They had three children. Helene's love of horses was passed to her from her mother.


Allison Stokke

Allison Stokke, a well-known female runner and pole vaulter, is an athlete. She was born in Newport Beach, California and is of white ethnicity. She attended Newport Harbor High School before going on to the University of California. Stokke won many records in pole vaulting and other sports while at both schools. Stokke also advocates healthy food and encourages others.

Tia-Clair Toomey

Famous female runner Tia-Claire Toomey has been one of the most successful athletes of the last year, and for good reason. She is the face in female fitness. Her results speak louder than her words every time she competes. She won 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games. Toomey was stronger than ever and continued to lead the competition even after a difficult start.

Allison Baver

Allison Baver, a former U.S. Olympian in competitive running, announced her retirement on Monday. She was an Olympian once before, in 2002, when she was an alternate for the U.S. 3000m relay women's team in Salt Lake City. Allison competed in both the 2006 Torino Winter Games (where she was an alternate) and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games (where she placed third in 3000m relay). Allison sustained a terrible injury in 2009 after she fell with a teammate and fractured her right leg and ankle. Unfortunately, this came one year before she was due to compete at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
