Feminist Ideologies In Women's Athletic Advertising

jd sports

Gu Jianlin a Chinese-American woman athlete made the decision to represent China, her mother's country, despite growing up in the United States. Many Americans were surprised by her decision, especially since it came at a time when tensions existed between the two countries. Many people even labeled her a traitor. Her decision to represent her mother's country was unpopular and society treated her differently if she had stayed in the United States.

Feminism

This study examines the use of feminist ideologies in women’s athletic advertising. Although the sample is small, it provides some insight into the female athletes and the role of feminist marketing in athletic products. It might inspire additional research. However, larger samples might lead to more solid conclusions. Additional research might also be useful to understand the relationship between feminism, athletic values, and other aspects of feminism.

Size

Female Asian athletes are often portrayed as being large in news reports. They are also often praised for their physical strength and beauty. This comment has been a constant feature of Asian-American Olympics coverage. Despite stereotypes, Asian Americans excel in many other sports.

Fragility

Asian American women have been making their way to the Olympics, and they've been scrutinized by fans and the national team. Zhu Yi is a recent example. She was mocked for her fall during the team event. Zhu gave up American citizenship to represent China, and "stole” the position from a Chinese-born competitor.

Color

It is not easy to find Asian women athletes in sports. Despite the fact that most American female athletes are white, some Asian women have excelled in sports. Chinese athletes have been the most successful in sports that are dominated by non-Asians. Despite their talent and drive, many Asian women have had a difficult time.

Status

Asian female Olympic athletes are becoming more visible. They often double up as role models and diplomats, speaking out against injustice in their professional and personal lives. We are proud to present seven Asian female athletes in this issue of Vogue Singapore.

Race

There are many stereotypes that have existed about race over the years, especially in competitive sport. Asian athletes are often portrayed as weak, fragile and unfit for modern sports. Despite this, Asian-American women are more prominently covered in news reports. The stories often address the athletes' physical strength and psychological characteristics.
