Coach Tina Estrada and her San Jose State women's soccer team are on a roll. In this article, we discuss the Spartans' recent success and Estrada's journey. We also touch on the university's mental health resources for student-athletes.

Estrada's success

Estrada, who became assistant coach of the women's soccer program at San Jose State in 2017, has a similar pedigree to Hanson. She was an All American college player in soccer and was a member of U.S.'s under-17 national team. At Santa Clara, Estrada was a three-time all-WCC forward, and also played in four NCAA tournaments. In 2015, she was named NSCAA Assistant coach of the year.

Estrada is from Fremont, Calif. Estrada now lives in Walnut Creek. She has coached Spartans to two NCAA Tournaments. Her teams have won five consecutive conference tournaments.

SJSU's recent success

The recent success of SJSU women's soccer has been attributed to several players. Most notably Dorthe Hoopius was named team's MVP. However, she will no longer be playing for the Spartans in 2018. Jamilecxth Becerra from Mountain West was also honored as the Newcomer of Year. He scored seven goals, including five that won the game. Darriell Franklin was also named the MW defensive players of the year. He was also selected to the All-MW First Team.

The new Spartan facilities are also responsible for this success. Two recent additions to campus are the Spartan Baseball Practice Facility (Spartan Beach) and Spartan Baseball Practice Facility (Spartan Baseball Practice Facility). The Spartans will also open next year their Spartan Athletics Center.

Coach Tina Estrada's career

Estrada has been the interim head coach for the San Jose State women’s soccer team over the past two-months. She has been an assistant Spartans coach for four years, and was most recently the Associate Head Coach. Lauren Hanson left after eight seasons and she was resigned. Hanson had been the school's most successful coach.

Estrada was an outstanding player at Santa Clara University and has been a great assistant and associate head coach for several programs. Now, she is poised to become one of the most promising young head coaches in division one women's soccer. Estrada has an exceptional teaching ability, excellent communication skills and outstanding leadership skills.
