Morgan's star player future
Alex Morgan is a young player in the US women’s soccer league. This season, she scored 15 goals in 16 NWSL league games. This summer she will lead the U.S. delegation to Mexico's Concacaf tournament. The US had not participated in this tournament since 2010 in Cancun. While the team lost to Mexico in the semifinals, Morgan helped the Americans win the gold medal at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. In addition, she scored the winning goal against Canada during the 2012 London Olympics.
Rapinoe's lawsuit against U.S. soccer federation
Five members of the USWNT brought a lawsuit against U.S. soccer Federation in April 2016 seeking equal pay for the same work. They claimed that they were treated unfairly on the basis of their gender. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was informed and the complaint was filed. A federal judge sided in favor of the federation and dismissed most of the unpaid claims. On appeal, the women filed an opening brief in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Dunn's debut Olympics
Dunn's inclusion on U.S. Women's Soccer Team was widely celebrated and anticipated in Rockville Centre (Maryland) earlier this month. It marked the end of her World Cup absence, and her start to a new chapter in her soccer career.
Rapinoe's 3rd Olympics
Megan Rapinoe works as a forward with the United States team. In 2009, she made her return to the team and was a part of their first World Cup. In 2011, Rapinoe sent the ball to teammate Abby Wambach, who scored just before the game was over. In 2012, she was part of the Olympic team and contributed to their bronze medal win in London.
Team USA's performance during Tokyo
Team USA's Summer Games performance has been very positive. The Tokyo Olympic basketball team won gold. The women’s volleyball team won their first Olympic gold. In addition, the 4x400 meter relay women’s team brought home their first gold. Allyson Felix has now won 11 career medals, and the U.S. women’s track and field team won its first indoor volleyball gold.
